I want to give an huge, heart-felt shout-out to our Front Office Ladies, our Custodial Team, and our remarkable teachers, especially Ms. Billings, Mrs. Lasnier, and Mrs. Sickenberger for making our 2nd Annual 8th Grade Black and Green Awards Night such a success. This is such a special event for our students and it simply would not be possible without the concerted efforts of each and every one of these individuals.
Students were challenged to read from six different categories of books to learn about different ethnicities, cultures, socioeconomic backgrounds, etc. Student Anevla completed the challenge and chose her Read Woke Challenge prize today!
May is Asian American Pacific Islander month! The Asian Culture Club, led by Club Advisor Mr. Dong, provided a celebration during the lunch period today. Club students performed a traditional Philippine dance called “Tinikling.” Afterwards, they taught students how to perform it. Tinikling is the national dance of the Philippines. which represents the resilient, joyful, and communal spirit of the Filipino people. It mimics the graceful movements of the tikling bird navigating rice fields and avoiding bamboo traps.
